This chapter made me realize that it's really hard to live in a different country. You have to adapt to their new language and culture. Not only that but you get lots of hate. It’s upsetting how Esperanza and Estevan have to disguise themselves.
I think that Taylor asked Esperanza and Estevan if they can act like they are Turtle real parents, so that they can sign papers to make Taylor the parent guardian of Turtle.
As an immigrant myself I know how hard it is to move to a new country. To learn a new language. To be scared of getting caught by immigration and be deported. In all its hard adjusting to a new country and getting into the country because there is a large risk of getting caught.
I think Esperanza is happy when she is holding Turtle because I think they left kids behind in their country. That’s why Esperanza looked happy when holding Turtle.
